2K1Soft & Web everywhere
| "The global network allows us to go beyond the limits of
electronic business."
|
|
We strongly believe in the possibilities offered by the
World Wide Web. The global network allows us to go beyond the limits of
electronic business.
|
Each day, a new concept allows businesses to improve their
processes, making them more efficient. And remember, one of the advantages of
the Web is to offer lower cost solutions.
The Web is presently focused on the PC (personal computer).
However, the de-centralisation of the PC now allows the Web users to work with
Internet on the television (Web TV and the game consoles turning into Web
terminal - wait until you see them), mobile phone (WAP), or portable organiser
(as the Pocket PC & Palm).
Therefore, using the Web when you want and where you want
allows you to manage your contacts, your agenda, your orders, and finally your
business from anywhere on the planet!
2K1Soft - Universal business link
| The link between partners must be as transparent as
possible. eBusiness that includes eCommerce (where eCommerce’s only goal is to
sell on the Web) allows businesses to offer their customers or partners a
unique portal to all their business services, facilitating communications and
exchanges.
|
|
"...to offer their customers or partners a unique portal
to all their business services, facilitating communications and exchanges. "
|
Linking businesses must be done through integration. With the
introduction of ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning), businesses can now
integrate all their functions (Production, Finance, Sales, Human Resources,
Logistics, etc) and improve the management of their business. But Internet is
bringing this integration to the next level. More and more, businesses are
integrating their processes with their partners. This has given birth to a new
system integration model called XRP (eXtended Resource Planning).
Here is an integrated system model as defined by XRP.

Business process integration
The current buzzword for integration is called XML (eXtended
Meta Language). What’s XML ? Nothing better than an example to explain:

XML allows the programmer to structure data that can easily
be read by systems and users (it was not the case with EDI standards). It
contains as much data as required by the integration specifications.
However, EDI is not dead. Several organisations are evolving
from EDI towards XML (ebXML is an example that we will discuss this in a future
K-Now Newsletter). It will greatly facilitate the integration between systems
because, as seen in our Order example in XML, our partner won't need to
integrate an XML schematic for each of his partner.
In order to exchange data in real time, a standard developed
by Ariba, IBM and Microsoft is born. Based on XML (what else???), it’s called
SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol, also named Web Service) and with this
standard no more inter-system obstacles. All exchanges are made in XML format
with the help of Internet protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, or FTP.
Conclusion
As you can see, the Internet offers many possibilities. Our
first K-Now Newsletter introduced you to several eBusiness notions, summarily
presented to give you a taste of the upcoming newsletters where we will detail
the concepts and technologies mentioned in this document.
In the next newsletters, expect to K-now more on c-commerce,
ebXML, UDDI, BizTalk, Microsoft .NET, XML, cybermarketing, the integration with
SOAP, etc…
